On a matter of nitpicking, I agree with almost everything you say in this article, though I chafe at the repeated mentions of male violence, as if victims of violence at the hands of a male are more important than victims of violence at the hands of a female. Women are no less abusive than men, physically or sexually, and have the added advantage of a society that has been conditioned (by the old left you celebrate) to only accept the idea of male violence against women, and disregard female violence against men.

On a more general note, I think if the left is to truly resurrect itself in the West, it would be wise to study the original IWW (both in terms of emulating its triumphs, and learning from its mistakes), particularly its notion of rebuilding a new world within the shell of the old. (I’m going by memory, as I don’t have my old Wobbly red card within reach.)

The first generation of the IWW, I imagine, would be aghast at the politics of resentment that has consumed the current left, as well as the widespread atomization that is also having a cancerous effect.
