One of my beefs with much of the content on Medium is that it has a know-it-all quality to it. As you point out, there's no shortage of pieces claiming to show you how to algorithm your way to financial independence, which to me has all the appeal of watching endless TED Talks on how to give TED Talks. (Or TED Talks on how to give TED Talks about giving TED Talks...and so on.)

Put another way, too many Medium authors seem stuck in some meta level hall of mirrors (i.e. content about content creation/promotion), rather than actual content about their life or the world, or from their own imagination. Medium-by-numbers.

In my own writing, whenever I feel like I have some knowledge or insight to impart, I try to find the inherent story or narrative of how I got there, usually couched within the context not of me being some guru on a given topic, but me as an ordinary schmuck fumbling my way through, happening on said knowledge or insight almost in spite of myself. (I have ADHD-Inattentive type, with anxiety and depression, so small successes or revelations are often almost in spite of myself.) I find it much easier to get into the flow simply by telling my own story (such as it is, such as I am).

One of the things I really like about your writing, besides your obvious flair with the English language, is that you bring a lot of humility, humor, and humanity to it (such as it is, such as you are), which makes it easier for those of us in your audience to get into the flow of reading, and to give credence to whatever message you're trying to impart in a given piece.
