Platonic usage of the term "girlfriends" does nothing to delegitimize lesbians or bisexual women. What is really happening here is a tactic that attempts to keep straight people walking on eggshells every time they open their mouth by manufacturing new forms of homophobia where it doesn't actually exist.

You should be more worried about transgender women commandeering the term "lesbian", and labeling your refusal to have sex with them "transphobia".
